Enwrought with golden and silver

The blue and the dim and the dark cloths

Of night and light and the half light,

I would spread the cloths under your feet:

But I, being poor, have only my
dreams
;

I have spread my dreams under your feet;

Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

 

他希求天國的錦緞


假如我有天國的錦緞,

繡著金光銀光,

寶藍、灰暗和漆黑之綢,

以夜、光和微光織就,

我將把錦緞鋪在你腳下:

但我一無所有,唯存夢想;

我把我的夢鋪在你腳下;

腳步請放輕,

因為你踩著的是  我的夢。
